How do I find the right Echo part number?
Read it off the old part rather than looking up the machine. Echo stamps the number on filters, heads and tubes, and the same component crosses many models - one air filter, A226001410, covers trimmers, blowers, edgers and power heads. Ordering by model name is what leads to parts that nearly fit.
Does the Speed-Feed 400 head fit my trimmer?
It is listed as fitting Echo SRM series trimmers, and it is the head most owners eventually move to because it reloads without opening the spool. It ships without adapters, so check what your shaft and drive require before ordering - the head alone is not always the whole job.
What size trimmer line does an Echo take?
It depends on the machine, not the brand. Echo sells .095 in (330095071) and .105 in Black Diamond (330105073) among others, and the heavier line only works if your head and engine are rated for it. Running line thicker than the head is designed for makes it bind and loads the clutch.
Are aftermarket Echo parts any good?
For filters, fuel lines, primer bulbs and spark plugs the aftermarket is generally fine and far cheaper. For carburettors it is a mixed picture - a cheap replacement often runs but needs adjusting, and if the original carburettor was simply gummed up, the real fix was a clean and a new filter.
What oil mix does an Echo two-stroke need?
Echo sells its Power Blend mix at 50:1 (part 6450050 for the one gallon bottle). Always confirm the ratio in your machine manual - it is printed on the fuel cap on most units - and mix fresh, because ethanol fuel left in a tank over winter is behind a large share of machines that will not start in spring.
